Hamas wins Palestinian elections

A quick comment about the Hamas landslide in Palestinian legislative elections of 25 January 2006, I suspect that Hamas will try to reach a compromise in government by nominating a non-Hamas person, Fatah or more probably an independent if Fatah refuses as they have said, as Foreign Minister. That way, both the President and the Foreign Minister would be non-Hamas people and that would allow the US and Israel to save face and talk to the Palestinian Authority directly, while still correctly stating that they are not talking to Hamas as such. Fatah would probably agree to this in spite of their initial bluster because it would preserve political prestige and give them one of the top government posts.
